Air Combat Maneuvering
Welcome to Air Combat Maneuvering. Here you will find many Air Combat Maneuvering training videos. These Lessons provide a quick introduction for getting to know your aircraft.

Introduction to Air Combat Maneuvering of a particular aircraft and its characteristic flight behavior.

These Lessons were made possible by the generous contribution of =IRFC= Requem with transcription by New Wings Staff.

Aspects

This video explains aircraft aspects.

It is recommended viewing to help understand further concepts introduced in certain wingman tactics.
Types of Pursuits

Video lesson explaining types of aircraft pursuits.

Faster aircraft aims his nose behind the target to reduce the closure and maintain the desired separation.
Ground Strafing

Video demonstrating how to strafe ground targets in Rise of Flight.

Attack vehicles from the side (perpendicular). Have your Sights zeroed correctly.
Know the wingover maneuver. Know the cuban eight manuever.
Keep eyes on target.
Bombing Stationary Targets (Scouts)

Video demonstrating how to dive bomb stationary targets.

Dive Bomb Approach. begin a dive on a target at desired angle.
As target passes under nose release the bomb.
Turn and climb to observer.
Bombing Moving Targets (Scouts)

Video demonstrating how to bomb moving targets in Rise of Flight.

Account for movement:
Bomb will have a delayed explosion. Vehicle will drive onto the bombing point and into the blast radius.
Level Bombing in the HP 0-400

How to perform level bombing in the Handley Page bomber.

This video will help you learn how to bomb from straight and level flight by accounting for your airspeed, altitude, and wind effectively. Also, there is a familiarisation video for the Handley Page if you haven't seen it.
Barrel Roll Attack (Lag displacement rolls)

Video demonstrating how to perform variations of the lag displacement roll known as a "Barrel Roll Attack" maneuver in Rise of Flight.

Use the Barrel Roll Attack when you overshoot a turning target that you have in lead persuit.
High Yo Yo

Video demonstrating how to perform a High Yo-Yo in Rise of Flight.

Sopwith Dolphin flown by =IRFC= Captain Darling. High Yo-Yo Preocedure. Roll out of turn and climb. get above and behind the enemy. Begin an inverted roll and dive. Achieve lead persuit for the shot.
Straight Yo-Yo

Video demonstrating how to perform the Straight Yo-Yo in Rise of Flight.

Sopwith Camel flown by =IRFC= Captain Darling. Straight Yo-Yo Procedure. On the enemys six. Begin a shallow dive to pick up airspeed. As separation decreases, pull up to avoid overshooting.
Pitch back

Video demonstrating the pitch back maneuver.

It is an easy maneuver that can be used in a situation involving a head on pass. Perform a loop after you cross over. At Top of Loop roll out for lead persuit. Pull in behind enemy for the shot.
Flat Scissors

Video demonstrating how to perform the Flat Scissors maneuver in Rise of Flight.

A weaving flightpath of nose to noce turns and reversals to make you enemy overshoot you.
Three phases: The nose to nose turn. The reversal. The lead turn.
Rolling scissors

Video demonstrating how to perform a rolling scissors in Rise of Flight.

A corkscrew flightpath accross the sky.

A result of high speed overshoot, or high low attack.
Energy Fighting (Rope-A-Dope)

Video explaining and demonstrating the Rope-A-Dope maneuver in Rise of Flight.

Tricking a bandit into wasting his energy while you conserve yours. use when enemy persuing from rear aspects. You have an energy advantage. if you have a better performing aircraft.
Snap Roll

Demonstration of how to perform a snap roll to the left and right, inducing a spin using the snap roll, and examples of both uses in combat situations in Rise of Flight.

This maneuver is also known as a flick roll, and is performed using the Sopwith Camel, but it can be performed effectively in most aircraft with practice.
Artillery Spotting

Video showing how to use the new artillery spotting feature which is available with patch 1.019 in Rise of Flight.
